Start building 4,000 m² skating pleasure

The alderwomen of Sports of Ghent, Sofie Bracke, broke last Tuesday the ground for the construction of the skatepark at the Watersportbaan in Ghent. The brand-new skate ground will be the biggest of the country and, with a surface of more than 4,000 m², also the biggest of Europe, except for two.
The skatepark will be always accessible and it will be possible to use it the whole year thanks to the lighting with timer function, to be controlled by the skaters themselves. A very special feature of this project is the fact that the skaters of Ghent had the opportunity to participate in the decisions related to the installation. The opening of the skatepark is foreseen for next summer and will be an additional asset for the sport site Blaarmeersen-Watersportbaan.
