On October 3, the official starting signal was given for the construction of The SKY, a new student tower located on the Doorniksesteenweg in Kortrijk.
This project by Hogeschool VIVES and ION includes a 53-meter-high tower with no less than 16 floors. In addition to the 12 floors with 192 student rooms and a communal kitchen, the tower also has a study area with a view of the park, a multipurpose room, a coworking space, a roof terrace and a shed for 600 bicycles.
Sustainability plays an important role in this project, with a strong focus on de-hardening and greening. 3,500 m² of parking will make way for greenery, transforming the campus into an efficient, attractive space.
The project creates a city within the city, so to speak, where students can study, attend classes, eat, play sports and soon also stay.
The aim is for the first students to move in just before the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.
