BVI Armasteel Gent

In the Ghent harbour area, we realised an impressive new industrial site for Armasteel, a leading steel producer. Located on a 5-hectare plot, this site offers approximately 25,000 m² of outdoor storage and 13,000 m² of production space. Stadsbader, in collaboration with BVI.EU, completed this complex and sustainable development in record time.

Since the opening of the new warehouse in March 2024, production has been running at full capacity. Armasteel, specialising in custom cutting and bending of rebar, benefits from the excellent location for efficient steel delivery via sea. Stadsbader was responsible for the complete shell construction, with a focus on delivering the building wind- and watertight.

The warehouse is built using a strong beam-and-column structure in prefabricated concrete, with steel bracing for added stability. The façade is finished with dark grey sandwich panels, which are not only aesthetically pleasing but also contribute to the building’s sustainability. The office, with its complex steel and concrete structure, features an overhanging floor that creates a dynamic working environment.

With a tight schedule, the warehouse floor had to be ready by December 2023. Despite challenging weather conditions, the project was completed on time. The concrete floor was poured in six phases, with impressive efficiency ensuring Armasteel's satisfaction. This achievement highlights the speed, flexibility, and expertise of Stadsbader in the construction sector, marking an important step for the future of Armasteel.

With this new facility, Armasteel is perfectly positioned in a dynamic region that stimulates the growth of the manufacturing industry. Here, at the heart of the port of Ghent, the foundation for innovative steel production is being laid.
