Demolition work on the new town hall in Roeselare is progressing well. The obsolete buildings on Botermarkt and Zuidstraat have largely disappeared. To transport the demolition material, a ship docked at Graankaai on Monday 8 November.

The vessel carried an initial load of 1,800 tons of brick rubble via inland waterway to Burcht, where it will be reprocessed into building material.

In this way, the debris was disposed of in an efficient and sustainable manner. With this initiative, the job was done in half a day instead of two days and we removed 65 trucks of waste.

Over the next few weeks, a total of 16,000 tons of debris will be hauled away by ship.
