Future looks bright for Kuehne + Nagel, WFS & Expeditors at Brussels Airport
Brussels Airport is the epicentre for more than 25 million travellers every year. And non-commercial flights are also gaining popularity at the cargo zone (Brucargo) of our national airport. A cargo volume of 732,000 tons to be exact was recorded last year. To encourage further growth, and in particular for Kuehne + Nagel, WFS and Expeditors, a new 50,000-square-meter logistics building with parking roof and offices will be constructed on top of the warehouses.
The new warehouse will be built on the West side of Brucargo, between the Bpost and DHL Forwarding warehouses on one side and the runways on the other. It boasts direct access to the asphalt and offers temperature-controlled storage areas. Brussels Airport emphasizes the "green" nature of its new offering: it will feature solar panels on the office roof, a green roof over the warehouse, rainwater harvesting, LED lighting and heat pumps among other improvements. Availability to customers is planned for 2020.
The investment is part of the 100-million-euro budget Brussels Airport has released for the development of state-of-the-art logistics buildings in the Brucargo cargo zone.
