Recently, our construction team at bpost in Evere completed a contemporary, fully-fledged, and modern distribution centre that has been operational since January 2024. The new building covers an area of 5,396 square meters.
The surrounding infrastructure amounts to 10,350 square meters and includes 170 standing/loading spaces for the electric vehicle fleet and a parking area for private vehicles. Around the building, ample covered loading and unloading areas were provided, as well as a bicycle shed and spaces for E-trailers.
In the project, sustainability requirements set by the Brussels Region were of course taken into account:
- Preservation of all trees on the site, before and during construction
- Installation of green roofs and solar panels
- Facilities for rainwater recovery
- Buffering and infiltration of all surface and rainwater (15,746m²) was made possible through infiltration pipes and gravel beds with coarse stones 20/63.
The building's techniques also considered the ecological footprint. LED lighting with continuous brightness control and a CO2 heat pump (GWP=1) heating and cooling system were provided for the offices and sorting and shipping hall.
Stadsbader was responsible for the entire construction, equipment, and finishing of this turnkey project.
In total, more than 275 employees moved to this building. From here, the postal workers will drive to serve the residents of Schaarbeek, Evere, Haren, Etterbeek, and Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe.
