TVH Equipment Waregem

360° Service in an architectural showpiece

The new headquarters for TVH Equipment along the E17 in Waregem – 'Het Nest' – is an iconic building thanks to its round shape and shading. DEMO Architects designed it, and Stadsbader Group and Willy Naessens Group joined forces for the execution of the shell construction, consisting of prefabricated and cast-in-place concrete.

The structural frame of the building primarily consists of a combination of prefabricated and cast-in-place concrete, with some steel beams and traditional masonry. Stadsbader was responsible for the cast-in-place concrete basement, 90 metres in diameter and 5 metres underground, which serves as a large underground parking facility for staff. We also handled all the earthworks and infrastructure, including nearly 44,000 square metres of various types of paving. The project notably combined two construction methods – prefabricated and cast-in-place concrete – each with its own approach and timeline. This required careful coordination for a logical and efficient assembly and phasing of the building.

The round shape of the building, a ‘square’ polygon, also posed challenges. Adjustments to the base structure and specific infill elements were needed to ensure everything fit together neatly. The site remained in use during construction, which required maintaining space for machinery. Special details include the ‘floating’ grease pits and a buffer basin under high-voltage power lines.
