Trompetaansluiting A19 x R8 Kortrijk

Just after the Easter holidays, on 19 April, Flemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works Lydia Peeters and mayors Ruth Vandenberghe (Kortrijk) and Jan Seynhaeve (Wevelgem) fired the starting pistol for construction of "the Trompetaansluiting" in Kortrijk with the first spade stroke.

The entrance/exit complex of the A19 with the R8 will be completely redesigned over the next few years. The Trompetaansluiting will do away with long traffic jams and provide a safe traffic intersection in and around Kortrijk.

At the junction of the A19 with the R8, the intersections with traffic lights will be removed to make way for a full-fledged interchange. The entrance and exit to the outer ring road will remain, and the connection of the inner ring road from the R8 to the A19 will be achieved via a bridge over the R8. In addition, the entry and exit ramp of the No. 1 Gullegem/Moorsele entrance/exit complex will also be moved up to extend the integration zone between the No. 1 complex and the R8 and make it easier for traffic to weave in and out.

Starting on 19 April, earthworks began, a drainage system will be installed and we will also conduct analyses to examine the stability of the soil. For this purpose, the right lane of the R8 towards the A19 will be blocked off. These works will last until the summer holidays.
